My paper "Empathic Design as a Framework for Creating Meaningful Experiences," co-authored with Juanita Gonzalez, was selected to be presented at the Academy for Design Innovation Management Conference 2019. On Wednesday, June 19, I successfully presented the paper, which sparked a lot of interesting conversations with the audience.
The paper presented empathic design as a framework and a strategy that can be used to create meaningful experiences connected with people’s lives and needs. By writing this paper, we intended to contribute to the broader discussion of how traditional design practices are adapting and evolving to respond to new realities, and how new design paradigms are needed to address the very complex challenges that we face in the 21st century.
The ADIM 2019 Conference took place on June 18-21 and was hosted by Loughborough University at their magnificent London campus located inside Here East, an innovation center that brings together business, tech, media, and education.
The Academy for Design Innovation Management (ADIM) is an independent organization that was created with the objective “to serve as a platform for knowledge creation within design innovation management and to foster collaboration of its members and interested parties by hosting conferences, workshops and online sharing of current research within the field of design innovation management” (https://designinnovationmanagement.com).
