Our research team, led by Prof. Juan Manuel España and me, was selected among a group of 40 teams of talented researchers and brilliant entrepreneurs, to participate in the Oxelerator program and transform our research project “CirCob: Bio-materials for the circular economy” into an investor-ready business plan through an intense five-month accelerator program.
The Oxelerator program was started in 2018 with the support of Oxentia (Oxford’s Global Innovation Consultancy Firm) and other local partners to promote technology transfer from the academic world to the industry by building entrepreneurship skills in researchers. This program is focused on innovations and business ideas with high-growth potential and international market opportunities.
The project “CirCob: Bio-materials for the circular economy” is intended to develop composite materials and consumer products using the waste from corn crops to substitute and reduce the use of plastic materials. The project is a joint effort between researchers from a private university and a local corn producer in the southwest of Colombia.
