A foundational course at the undergraduate level focused on introducing fundamentals of 2D graphic communication through a variety of design projects, investigating the principles and elements of design through problem-solving methods, and exploring elements of composition, layout, line quality, graphic representation, and color theory. This course is taken by students in five programs across three different departments.

A foundational course at the undergraduate level focused on exploring principles of three-dimensional design, addressing issues of form, space, and the design process. The course introduces problem-solving methods through ideation, form studies, and model-making, and, additionally, it presents students with pertinent design vocabulary and concepts involved in the creation and critique of abstract three-dimensional compositions.

A foundational hands-on technology course at the undergraduate level focused on developing skills for digital illustration and design presentation techniques using the Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and Generative AI tools (Adobe Firefly, DALL-E, Midjourney). This course is taken by students in the Interior Design, Industrial Design, and Apparel Design and Merchandising programs.

The course focuses on why design matters to both the professional and the consumer and uses a review of case studies across a range of design solutions and discussions about interdisciplinary design methods and terms.

Interdisciplinary course at the undergraduate level focused on exploring issues related to access to justice in Colombia from a design approach. The class, inspired by Stanford’s Legal Design Lab, invited students to learn and adopt design methods, practices, and mindsets to improve the experience of users of legal clinics as a proxy for improving access to justice for vulnerable communities in Colombia. The course was taught in collaboration with the University’s Law School to students from all backgrounds.

Graduate seminar focused on guiding the master students in Design Management through the development of their thesis proposal. Students collaboratively developed their project proposal while they were introduced to research methods and techniques such as literature reviews, interviews, observation, focus groups, and qualitative data analyses.

Week-long course focused on introducing members of the intelligence community to concepts of design thinking through an immersive design experience that explored the topic of open source research. Participants engaged in a situated design challenge to learn and apply the design thinking process and a variety of design research methods.

Week-long course intended to introduce members of the intelligence community to concepts of design thinking by addressing challenges related to intentional food contamination in multiple contexts. Participants conducted design research to inspire their projects and developed creative solutions through an iterative process of prototyping and testing.
